Just found a new show on Hulu: The Supersizers Go…
In The Supersizers Go…, British restaurant critic, Giles Coren, and comedienne, Sue Perkins, eat their way through British history. From Roman times to the French Revolution to the Great War, Giles and Sue eat, live and play for a full week exclusively the way people did back then. Before and after each era of eating, they pay a visit to a doctor to see how there are affected by their new diets.
So far I’ve only watched the first episode “Wartime” which looks at WWII rationing and lifestyle on the home front. It’s both funny and educational Next up: the Restoration period (1660s).
PS: I love Hulu..so much available for free (there are commercials, but there are on TV too!). Plus where else would I ever seen the 1970’s miniseries Little Women in which William Shatner plays Professor Bhaer with an painful German accent?
After a hearty 99 cent IKEA breakfast (a road trip tradition), I’m heading down to Missouri—first stop: Excelsior Springs.
It seems like a good time to go…possibility of snow in the Twin Cities forecast! Booooo!
I’ll be gone about two weeks. You can reach me via my cell if you need to, or I’ll check email occasionally.
I’m making an effort to loose the pounds I’ve put on since hitting 30.
However, I still want to partake in family fun such as quarterly sugar cookie baking and decorating.
This is some of Sunday’s yield:
I solved my temptation dilemma by promptly mailing my portion to Missouri. Hope you’re enjoying them, LREC!
My dad is always looking back on the 40s and 50s as a kind of golden era (minus WWII of course). Today’s music, for example, can never compare. I’m not sure that this clip from 1944 proves his point musically, but the Ross Sisters sure were limber.
Some people like their taters Lyonnaise, some prefer French fries.
I prefer mine with mayonnaise, cole slaw on the side.Solid potato salad, that’s solid salad, Jack,

Take a plate, fill it up, and bring it right back.
In an effort to figure out my health issues, I’ve decided to try to go gluten-free for a while. This is much harder than you might think. The most bizarre things have wheat flour in them…like the licorice candy I bought a couple of days ago. And most speedy/easy foods that I eat are out: Eggos-out, graham crackers-out, Life cereal-out, sandwich-out, pasta-out…
So today I made a Greek salad. I hadn’t made one for a long time. I fudged a bit and left out the peppers and olives. It was pretty darn good. The fresh basil really makes this dish. I’ll have to plant a little windowsill herb garden soon.
